Surplus Property is a part of UM Procurement and is responsible for the disposal, re-distribution, and/or sale of used equipment and supplies that the University of Missouri no longer uses. The sale of this equipment is handled through public walk-in sales or online through GovDeals.com. A should be completed and submitted to Surplus for scheduling pickups. Items being surplused may also be dropped off at the Surplus Warehouse during normal working hours. Any IT equipment or equipment containing electronic data should be sent to IT to have the electronic data erased. All associated with the disposal of surplus must be complied with before submitting a form.
Who Can Purchase from Surplus
All University of Missouri equipment and goods at the Surplus Property Warehouses are available to other University of Missouri departments at reasonable prices and may be purchased prior to public sales. Departments may view equipment and goods any day of the week during normal working hours.
Public Sale Days
Surplus Property hosts public sale days to move University surplus that has not been purchased by other University departments. Surplus items from the Kansas City and St. Louis campuses are brought to Columbia to be sold.
Public sale days in Columbia are held every Wednesday and Friday unless otherwise posted. Sales start at 8:00 a.m. and last until 3:30 p.m. at the Columbia Surplus Property Warehouse.
Public Sale days in Rolla are held every Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Rolla Surplus Property Warehouse.

Surplus Property receives no General Operating funds. All salaries, benefits, operational, marketing and sales costs are paid by the funds retained from the sale of surplus equipment and goods.
