Generally speaking, you are fully benefit-eligible if your primary university job is at least 75% of a full-time equivalent (FTE) position and you have an appointment duration of at least nine months. Learn more in University Policy HR-101: Employee Status.

Per ACA Requirements

Medical Insurance Eligible

Under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, some employees are eligible for medical insurance only, even though they are not eligible for other benefits such as dental or vision insurance. If you have recently received a letter explaining that you have the option to enroll in university medical insurance, go to the medical insurance eligibility webpage to learn more.

Getting Started With University Benefits

Whether you¡¯re newly benefit-eligible because you were just hired, or if something in your life or job is changing, here¡¯s what you need to do: 

  1. Research the insurance and retirement plans that are right for you, depending on your eligibility and needs. 
    1. Coverage can include yourself and eligible dependents depending on the plan. Waiving coverage is also an option. 
  2. Complete your enrollment in the employee portal, , within 31 days of the date you become eligible.

Enroll in myHR

myHR is the University's employee portal where you'll complete a number of employment tasks, including benefits enrollment. Full step-by-step instructions on completing the enrollment process, with screenshots, are available. 

  1. Open your internet browser and navigate to (Firefox or Chrome recommended). Log in with your username and password. Click ¡°Sign In.¡±
  2. Click the ¡°My Benefits¡± tile. Then, to access the self-service application, select ¡°Benefits Enrollment¡± from the menu on the left side of the screen
  3. Follow the instructions on your screen to select and submit your plan choices or waive coverage.
  4. After you click the ¡°Submit¡± button, a ¡°Benefits Alerts¡± pop-up will appear stating your enrollments have been submitted. Click ¡°Done.¡± 
    • An email confirmation will be sent to your university email account so you know your submission was received. 
    • Note: You are not done with your enrollment until you click both the ¡°Submit¡± button as well as the ¡°Done¡± button on the pop-up screen.
  5. You will receive another email to your University email account within a few days with steps on how to view/print your confirmation statement.
